A one month old is dead after being ejected from his mother’s lap in a wreck involving a semi truck in Florida on Thursday morning.
The accident happened on December 9th in Osceola County just after 6:30 a.m.
According to WFTV 9, a 38-year-old motorist was driving south along Florida’s Turnpike with an infant sitting on a passenger’s lap when the motorist failed to brake for stopped traffic and crashed into the back of a stopped semi truck. The force of the impact ejected the baby from the car and seriously injured the driver and other adult passenger.
The baby died at the scene, and both adults were transported to a nearby hospital, the driver with serious injuries and the passenger with critical injuries.
The traffic backup was caused by a prior wreck involving a semi truck that had lost control, struck a guardrail, and caught fire. Details on that first wreck are not clear.
