ND state training grant has trucking students excited about the possibilities

Published:

A new grant is helping to fill truck driving jobs in the state of North Dakota this year.

The Smart Restart Technical Skills training grant comes from the state’s Department of Commerce and will allow four new students a month to take the CDL training course at Bismarck State College in Bismarck, North Dakota.

The state says this program is intended to fill the 1,100 truck driving jobs currently available in the area, and will utilize a trucking simulator in addition to real-life practice.

The first student in the program, Mike Batts, says he is excited about the possibilities trucking will open for him.

“To learn logistics of the, of all the electronics, how the industry has evolved, just to be able to operate those systems and to be able to think of traveling. I’m excited about that and to see some country,” he said to KX Net News.

Good luck, new drivers!
