Out-of-state couple robbed while attempting to purchase semi truck

Published:

A couple was robbed on Wednesday afternoon during what they thought was going to be a business transaction.

The robbery happened at around 2:30 p.m. on December 15th in St. Louis, Missouri.

According to KMOV 4 News, the couple flew from California to St. Louis to purchase a semi truck that they had found on Facebook on behalf of their employer. The couple then went to meet the man claiming to be selling a semi truck in the 600 block of Chain of Rocks Drive.

Instead of a business transaction, the couple were met with a man who approached them and attempted to take the male buyer’s backpack, which was full of cash for the semi truck purchase.

The male buyer refused to give up the backpack, but the suspect lifted his shirt and revealed a knife in his waistband, so the couple handed over the bag.

The couple was not injured in the incident. No further information on the robbery has been released.
