Oregon police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the body of a young girl found at a scenic rest area last month.
The body was found on December 10th, 2020, but a sketch of the child was not released until Monday, January 4th.
According to KOIN 6 News, the girl appears to have been somewhere between the ages of six and ten, with a height between 3 feet, 10 inches, and 4 feet, six inches, with long, dark hair.
Officials speculate that the girl had died more than a month prior to the discovery of her body.
She was discovered at a rest stop along the H.B. Van Duzer Forest State Scenic Corridor in Lincoln City, Oregon, in a heavily wooded area. Her cause of death has not yet been determined.
Officials are currently conducting a DNA analysis of the girl, but officials are still reaching out in hopes that someone may step forward with information.
“We just need to give this girl closure. We need someone to come forward,” said Oregon State Police Captain Tim Fox.
“If anyone knows anyone, any children in the area they haven’t seen that would fit that description, you know some issues, school’s not in, so many teachers aren’t missing kids.”
Anyone with information that might help investigators in identifying the girl is urged to call 800.442.0776 or OSP (677).
