Louisiana State Police have confirmed two fatalities in a serious crash on I-10 on Tuesday morning.
The crash occurred around 8 a.m. on I-10 near the Duson exit at mile marker 92.
Local outlet KTDY reports that a westbound semi truck crossed into the median and into eastbound traffic, hitting a second semi with a livestock trailer head on.
Two people were killed in the crash and five others were reported injured.
Westbound I-10 is closed and miles-long traffic backups have been reported.
Traffic is being rerouted from LA 95 South to US 90.
I-10 West is now closed at LA 95 (Duson) due to an accident. Motorists are being diverted onto LA 95 South to US 90. Congestion is approaching Ambassador Caffery Parkway.
