Police find 45 year old truck driver deceased in sleeper at Illinois truck stop

Published:

Illinois police found a truck driver who apparently passed away in the sleeper berth of his truck at a truck stop in Effingham.

Around 1 p.m. on Friday, September 10, the Effingham Police Department received a call to perform a welfare check at the TravelCenters of America truck stop on West Evergreen Avenue, according to local outlet Effingham Radio.

When officers located the truck, they found a male deceased in the sleeper berth area and called in the Effingham County Coroner.

The driver was identified as 45 year old Jason Wilson of Las Vegas.

Wilson was reportedly returning from a trip to Lima, Ohio, when he stopped in Effingham for a rest break.

Wilson’s wife last spoke to him around 8:30 p.m. on Thursday and had been unable to reach him since. She said that her husband had been sick.

Police do not suspect foul play.

The incident is under investigation by the Effingham County Coroner’s office.
