Police searching for rig that sideswiped trooper as he spoke with another driver

Published:

The Massachusetts State Police are searching for a semi trick that sideswiped an officer as they spoke with another trucker on the side of the road.

The incident happened on Wednesday, June 16th in Hopkinton, Massachusetts.

According to Fall River Reporter, the Lieutenant was speaking with another truck driver on the side of Route 495 when a second tractor trailer struck the officer and his police cruiser before fleeing the scene. The officer suffered injuries to his arms and hands in the incident, and was transported to a nearby hospital.

Now, MSP are looking for help in locating the truck that was involved in the incident.

“We continue to seek the tractor-trailer that struck the Lieutenant and his cruiser. It has a blue cab and white trailer. We believe the truck’s make is a Freightliner, and may be from a model year from 1998-2001. The truck may have minor damage to its passenger side, and may have white paint transferred from the cruiser on it (the cruiser was a white unmarked vehicle),” said Dave Procopio of the Massachusetts State Police.

Anyone with information about the tractor-trailer or its driver is asked to call the State Police-Charlton Barracks at 508-721-4040.
