Police unsure if open container of alcohol a factor in crash with semi that left motorist dead

Published:

Police say they are unsure if alcohol was involved in a wreck that left one woman dead and a semi truck damaged.

The incident happened on Monday morning, September 27th at around 2:13 a.m. in Los Angeles, California.

Los Angeles Police say that a woman in her twenties either fell asleep or passed out while driving her Prius west on Victory Boulevard. She then crashed into the back of a semi truck parked on the side of the road and was killed in the impact.

Upon investigation of the incident, police discovered an open container of alcohol inside of the Prius, but say it is still unclear if alcohol was a factor in the crash, reports CBS Local Los Angeles.

The truck driver was unhurt in the incident.
