Popular trucking radio host gets new show after dismissal from iHeartRadio

Published:

Trucking radio personality Steve Sommers will return to the airwaves next week after he was dismissed from his longtime talk show in November.

Starting at January 11, at 12:00 a.m., The Steve Sommers Overnight Drive will debut as a five hour call-in show that focuses on trucking topics that will be available on YouTube and Facebook.

“Last year brought major change for everyone, and for some more than others. This is a new year with new opportunities and hopefully for all my fans, there will be a brighter future in 2021. For me, having the opportunity to reconnect once again with all my trucker friends coming home from a long night driving or those hard-working people that are up night after night working their jobs – it is a dream come true. To have the freedom to be able to produce and direct the content of my own show, and knowing about all of these great plans we have coming to add to the show… I’m just incredibly humbled and really excited at the opportunity,” Sommers said.

The show is produced with support from lubricant company Hot Shot’s Secret.

Sommers was dismissed from 700WLW’s “America’s Truckin’ Network” in early November after 16 years with the show. Sommers took over the show from his father, Dale “Truckin’ Bozo” Sommers, in 2004. Dale Sommers started the overnight show in 1984.
