Pothole puddle causes fatal crash with semi truck

Published:

A motorist was killed after a large pothole sent his pickup swerving in front of a semi truck.

The accident happened on Thursday night, November 18th in Portland, Oregon.

According to KOIN 6 News, the motorist was driving a Ford F-150 on northbound Interstate 405 north near the Fremont Bridge when he began to merge onto Interstate 5. As he was merging, his pickup rolled over a four-inch deep pothole filled with water, which caused the pickup to swerve right into the concrete barrier. The pickup then skidded back toward the middle of the highway into the path of an oncoming semi truck.

The truck driver was unable to avoid striking the pickup and t-boned the vehicle, killing the motorist on impact.

The truck driver cooperated with police investigation, and officers issued no citations as a result of the crash.

The identities of both drivers have not been released and the incident is still under investigation.
