Rainy weather sends third semi in two months dangling off overpass

Utah Highway Patrol is warning truckers to be more careful in rainy weather after the third semi truck in a month nearly went over an interstate barrier wall.

The most recent incident happened on Wednesday, August 18th in Salt Lake City, Utah.

According to KJZZ News, the semi truck hauling food was heading north on Interstate 215 west to westbound Interstate 80 in rainy conditions when it lost control, struck a concrete barrier, and ended up with the cab hanging partially off of the roadway.

Luckily, no one was hurt, but the ramp from northbound 215 to westbound 80 has been closed while crews work to remove the rig.

“Third semi in the last 2 months to go over the barrier in this location, 215 NB to I-80 WB. Common theme is the RAIN, slow down in inclement weather. Each one of these could have been so much worse!” the Utah Highway Patrol wrote in a Facebook post.

The wreck is estimated to be cleared by 11 a.m. MDT.
