Runaway truck hauling Coors beer crashes coming down from Eisenhower Tunnel

Colorado firefighters say brake failure was to blame for a Friday morning truck crash near the Eisenhower Tunnel.

The crash occurred around 10:30 a.m. on Friday in Silverthorne, Colorado.

According to Summit Fire & EMS, a semi truck “lost its brakes on the icy descent from the Eisenhower Tunnel, clipped and spun a Jeep, then careered down the Silverthorne exit and crashed over the median as it turned right onto the Blue River Parkway in Silverthorne.”

The truck overturned after hitting the median.

“Remarkably, nobody was injured, and somehow no vehicles were in the path in what is always a busy intersection,” firefighters said.

Firefighters pitched in to unload 12 packs of Coors beer by hand ahead of righting and towing the overturned truck.

“They might need some [beer] for themselves after their shift, as they have been hopping since yesterday morning with major crashes on what one longtime veteran engineer termed some of the iciest roads in his career,” Summit Fire & EMS said.
