An Indiana man is facing multiple criminal charges after a traffic stop earlier this week.
According to the Indiana State Police, Omar Muhammad has been charged with synthetic identity deception, forgery, obstruction of justice, and possessing a counterfeit government-issued identification.
Around 5:54 p.m. Tuesday, March 9, Indiana State Police stopped a 2010 Volvo tractor pulling an enclosed trailer on U.S. 31 near Miami County Road 200 North near Peru.
The 48-year-old driver from Indianapolis was pulled over for reportedly not wearing a seatbelt.
Muhammad provided a driver’s license identifying him as someone else. After further investigation, it was revealed that the person identified on the license was wanted on a criminal arrest warrant from Texas. After this discovery, Muhammad provided his true identity and that he was driving without a valid commercial driver’s license.
Muhammad was arrested and booked into the Miami County Jail.
