Semi truck burned to a crisp after pickup loses mattress

Police in Texas say that an unsecured mattress was to blame for a fire that destroyed a semi truck on Tuesday.

The incident happened on Tuesday morning in Edinburg, Texas.

Police say that a pickup traveling northbound on 281 lost a mattress that it was transporting. The mattress flew onto the roadway and went under a semi truck also northbound on 281.

The mattress caught fire, which in turn caused the truck to catch fire.

The truck driver was able to get out of the vehicle in time and wasn’t hurt.

Images captured at the scene show that the truck was completely destroyed by the fire.

Local news outlet KRGV reports that the pickup driver left the scene before police arrived.

The incident is still under investigation.
