Semi truck manages to strike moving train, causing $140,000 in damages, minor injuries

Officers are investigating after a semi truck managed to strike a train as it rolled along the tracks in Iowa. 

The incident happened at around 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 14th near Sioux Center, Iowa. 

According to Siouxland News, 59-year-old trucker Harvard Sandbutte was hauling a flatbed trailer loaded with hay eastbound on 360th Street when he collided with a moving train as it headed north at the railroad crossing. 

Sanbutte suffered only minor injuries, but the collision caused $40,000 in damage to the rig and $100,000 to the train. 

It is not clear if any citations were issued and the exact reason behind the collision is still not clear.
