Semi’s crash into downed wire injures witness who was trying to help

A series of crashes involving a power pole, a car, and a semi truck left a Good Samaritan with serious injuries in Wisconsin on Tuesday.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, October 12th in Montrose, Wisconsin at around 9:40 a.m.

According to CBS 58, 23-year-old David Petershein was heading south on Highway 69 south of Paoli when he crossed the centerline for unknown reasons and struck a power pole. A witness then pulled over and got out to help the man.

As the woman was attempting to assist the wrecked motorist, a semi truck drove by and struck a downed wire which snapped the power pole in half and struck the Good Samaritan.

Both Petershein and the unnamed bystander were transported to a nearby hospital. Petershein sustained only minor injuries in the ordeal, but the bystander’s injuries were described as serious and potentially life-threatening.

The truck driver was not injured in the wreck and remained on scene to cooperate with police.
