Sleepy trucker unhurt after dozing off on highway

Published:

A truck driver was uninjured after falling asleep at the wheel in Minnesota on Monday morning.

The accident happened on April 26th at around 5:20 a.m. in St. Michael, Minnesota.

According to the Star Tribune, the truck driver was traveling west on Interstate 94 when he fell asleep, plowed through the right shoulder of the highway and crashed into a bridge pillar at the Highway 241 interchange.

Luckily, the truck driver was not hurt and no other vehicles were involved in the incident. The westbound lanes of I-94 were shut down for around five hours as crews worked to clear the wreckage. The truck has since been towed and the highway has been reopened.

The trucker was cited for “duty to drive with due care.”
