The Massachusetts Department of Transportation is celebrating Star Wars today, May 4, with themed highway signs featuring quotes straight from the iconic movies.
The official Star Wars holiday is celebrated every year on May 4. Star Wars fans use the phrase, “May the fourth be with you” on this day, which is a pun based on the iconic Star Wars catchphrase “May the force be with you”.
State Highway Administer Jonathan Gulliver tweeted that MassDOT would be paying homage to Star Wars fans today and even gave a sneak peek of some of the examples of signs that drivers could see.
“It’s always a good day for safety and litter messages but today is also a special day for Star Wars fans, so we thought we would mix it up a bit with some themed messages. #MayThe4thBeWithYou,” Gulliver wrote.
Some of the signs posted include puns like “There is no try. Wear a seatbelt you will,” and “Speed is the path to the dark side.”
