Colorado transportation officials say that a portion of I-70 will be closed for most of the day on Wednesday following a multi vehicle crash late Tuesday night.
The crash occurred shortly before 11 p.m. on I-70 at mile marker 207 between the Eisenhower Tunnel and Silverthorne, Colorado.
At least one commercial vehicle was involved the five vehicle collision, with a semi truck catching fire in the westbound lanes of I-70.
One person was killed in the crash.
It isn’t clear whether anyone else was injured.
The Colorado Department of Transportation said that I-70 between Silverthorne and the Loveland Pass Exit, including the Eisenhower Johnson Memorial Tunnels, will be closed for much of the day as crews clean up from the tractor trailer crash and fire, assess damage, and make repairs.
The Colorado State Patrol is still investigating the cause of the crash.
