Two men are under arrest after robbing thousands of dollars in cigarettes from a truck driver in Boaz, Alabama.

Narraton Orenthian Brooks Jr., 30, and Arrion Chavez Lanier, 32, robbed a truck driver at the Murphy USA gas station as he made a delivery around 9 a.m. March 11, Boaz Police Chief Josh Gaskin said.

According to police, one of the men confronted the driver and told him to hand over cases of cigarettes. When the driver refused, the suspect climbed into the truck and threatened to become violent. Both suspects then started to unload cigarettes from the back of the truck.

The men took around $10,000 worth of cigarettes.

The driver signaled to a store clerk to call 911, Gaskin said. Officers spotted the vehicle and pursued the two men until they exited their vehicle on a dead-end on Perigo Street.

The men were arrested within 10 minutes of the robbery, Gaskin said.

Their names were not immediately released. Both suspects are being held in the Boaz City Jail.
