TA to spend $200 million on upgrades to showers, parking areas, and driver lounges

As part of National Truck Driver Appreciation Week, TravelCenters of America shared a peek at plans to update truck stop locations across the country.

In a September 16 announcement, TA said that the company is spending nearly $200 million on upgrades to “areas that matter most to our professional drivers, including our showers, parking areas, lounges and convenience stores.”

TA said that locations will be installing new shower heads, sinks, lighting, paint, and flooring in shower areas. Driver lounges will be updated with new chairs, televisions, lighting, and mood-enhancing color schemes.

TA plans to refresh more than 100 existing locations by the end of 2022.

“We’re here to serve our professional drivers, and if we create an environment that our guests want and need, they’re going to be happier, and as a result, we’re going to be more successful,” said company CEO Jonathan M. Pertchik.
