The Montana Highway Patrol says that a truck driver lost his life following a crash and explosion on Tuesday evening.

The crash happened around 4:30 p.m. on January 12 about 40 miles south of Helena, Montana.

Police say that a 34 year old Idaho-based tanker truck driver was southbound on I-15 near mile marker 156 when he overturned while rounding a corner, causing a leak, a fire, and an explosion.

The truck driver passed away at the scene. His identity has not yet been released.

Drugs and alcohol are not thought to be a factor.

The Montana Highway Patrol says that the interstate was wet at the time of the crash and that the driver was believed to have been traveling too fast for the conditions.
