Teen dies after hitching a ride on a moving 18 wheeler in Texas, police say

Published:

Texas police have confirmed that a teenager lost his life last night when he tried to jump off of a moving tractor trailer.

Police were called to the scene shortly before 10 p.m. on Tuesday on an IH-35 access road near FM 1103 in Schertz, Texas.

When officers arrived, they found a sixteen year old male lying in the roadway with traumatic injuries.

Lifesaving measures were administered, but the teen died at the scene.

While police initially believed that the boy had been struck by a passing vehicle, after further investigation, officers say that he was hitching a ride on a semi truck and that he fell under the tires when he attempted to jump off the vehicle.

Police say that they do not believe that the truck driver knew that the teen was on the truck.

The incident remains under investigation by the Schertz Police Department.

On October 4, a man in Nashville suffered critical head injuries when he either fell or jumped off of a moving truck and landed on I-40.

In late September, the Atlanta Police Department (APD) shared a warning about a dangerous new social media “game” after observing an uptick in people hitching a ride on moving semi trucks.
