Teens learn to share the road with semi trucks at Indiana trooper event

A group of teens got up close and personal with a semi truck and professional truck drivers as part of an educational program designed to help them share the road with trucks safely.

On July 19, members of the trucking industry including the Indiana Motor Truck Association (IMTA) and the American Trucking Associations (ATA) came together at Anderson University in Anderson, Indiana, to educate teenagers taking part in the Indiana State Police Youth Camp.

Special focus was placed on showing teens how to safety share the road with a truck and on the dangers of distracted driving.

ATA Road Team Captains Herschel Evans and Steve Brand were on hand to answer questions about trucks and the trucking industry.

Indiana State Police have held summer youth camps since 1970 to educate young people about law enforcement and the criminal justice system.
