Texas interstate closed for ‘majority of the day’ following fiery semi crash

Texas officials are asking drivers to find alternate routes following a fiery truck crash on Tuesday morning.

The incident occurred before 5 a.m. on southbound I- 35E in Lewisville, Texas.

“An 18-wheeler hit the jersey wall at the George Bush exit earlier this morning. It sent debris across all lanes of the highway and exit ramp, and all axles were sheared off the tractor and trailer. HAZMAT teams are en route to clean up fuel on the highway and exit ramp,” the Lewisville Fire said.

Firefighters said that there were no fatalities during the crash. It isn’t clear whether anyone was injured.

“The area is expected to be shut down the majority of the day, until approximately 5:00pm. Please avoid the area,” Lewisville Fire said.
