The Young Street Bridge crashes just keep coming

Two in the last week, plus one nearby.

Three semi trucks have crashed into bridge overpasses in the City of Tonawanda in just the last week, causing some serious damage to the trucks.

The three accidents occurred in the City of Tonawanda, New York at the Young Street Bridge and the East Niagara Street Bridge.

According to WGRZ News, the first incident happened on Wednesday at around 5:30 p.m.. The semi truck, driven by 59-year-old Brian Toomer, was hauling empty liquor bottles and was on its way to a distillery when it struck the Young Street Bridge.

The impact split the trailer in half, but Toomer was not injured.

The second impact occurred on Thursday at around 12:30 p.m. In that accident, a rented truck struck the overpass on East Niagara Street. The rig was empty and the driver, 25-year-old Juaron Burns, was not injured. Officials say the truck did sustain damage.

The final incident happened on Saturday at around 4:18 a.m., again at the Young Street Bridge. 51-year-old David Omorojoe struck the overpass but did not stop until he was pulled over by local police.

No one was injured in the string of crashes, and the overpass did not sustain structural damage, but all three semi trucks did suffer serious damage, police say.

All three truck drivers have been issued summonses for the incidents.
