Thief admits he stole FedEx rig because he was “aggravated” it was blocking traffic

Published:

A tractor trailer thief turned himself in to police on Monday for stealing a FedEx semi truck parked on the side of a highway last month.

On March 19th, 39-year-old Gregory D. McVaughn stole a FedEx truck that was stopped along Highway 1146 in Rosepine, Louisiana while the driver walked up a long driveway to deliver a package. The entire robbery was recorded on the dash cam of the semi truck, which aided officers in identifying McVaughn, who had abandoned the rig along a dirt road approximately 2 miles from where it had been stopped.

Detectives were able to identify McVaughn and locate his address, but were unable to find McVaughn due to his working out of state. He turned himself in on April 12th, reported ABC 3.

McVaughn then told authorities that he had stolen the truck because he was “aggravated that it was left in the roadway.” He is currently facing one count of Unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and one count of Theft.
