Thieves caught stealing rims from trucking company offered to pay for them before fleeing scene

Published:

Two men were caught stealing truck rims from a trucking company in Michigan last week.

The incident occured on March 2nd in Monroe County at around 3:38 p.m.

According to The Monroe News, the owner of Tyler’s Trucking caught the two men loading nine rims into the back of a pickup at his business and blocked the vehicle in with his own pickup before calling police. The two suspects then offered to pay for the rims they were attempting to steal, but soon fled the scene on foot, one of them carrying a small child.

Two women were left at the scene sitting inside of the pickup. Police questioned the women but later released them with no charges.

Officers eventually located the two thieves and took them into custody. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that one of the men had an outstanding felony warrant, and that the two were planning to sell the rims for scrap at a local metal recycling business. It was also discovered that the suspects were responsible for the scrapping of $800 worth of other tire rims and brake calipers from businesses in the area.

The suspects were booked into the county jail on larceny charges.
