Three people rescued from fleeing car that smashed into moving semi truck

Published:

A fleeing motorist ended a brief police chase with a crash into a semi truck that left the motorist and their passengers trapped to the point of extrication in Illinois on Tuesday evening.

The accident happened on April 27th just before 7 p.m. in Aurora, Illinois.

According to WGN 9 News, the initial incident began in the 1500 block of W. Indian Trail where the officers responded to a ‘disturbance.’ Before officers could fully deal with the disturbance, a car involved in the situation sped off, leading police on a brief chase.

Officers quickly halted the chase for the safety of other drivers, but soon received a call reporting that the fleeing vehicle had crashed into a semi truck, seriously damaging the car and trapping multiple people inside.

Firefighters were called and were able to successfully extricate the motorists. Each suffered minor injuries. The truck driver was not hurt in the incident.

It is not clear what charges, if any, the motorist is facing.
