A truck driver was deported from Norway this week after he was stopped twice for not using mandatory snow chains.
The unnamed driver was pulled over twice within an hour, first on their way to Tromsoe, and the second on a nearby bridge. In Norway, chains are mandatory for heavy vehicles from mid-November through March, regardless of weather conditions.
Police described the driver as “careless of the conditions, which represents a great danger. [because of this] we found grounds to open a deportation case against the foreign driver,” reported Seattle Times.
The driver has since been banned from returning to Norway for two years, and was escorted out of the country on Wednesday, February 10th. He was also fined the equivalent of $1,302 for his failure to observe the law.
