Truck driver reportedly shot during recovery attempt at Texas truck stop

A truck driver was injured in a shooting at a Flying J truck stop location in Texas on Monday night.

The incident occurred around 10 p.m. on Monday, January 11, at a Flying J located in Tye, Texas.

An argument reportedly began when 31 year old tow truck operator James Eggleston arrived at the truck stop in a private vehicle to recover a semi truck.

The truck’s driver was still with the vehicle and an argument broke out.

Local news outlet KTXS reports that Eggleston fired one warning shot, then shot the truck driver in the leg.

The truck driver was taken to the hospital and was listed in stable condition.

Eggleston was later arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and unlawful possession of a firearm.

Eggleston says that he was acting in self defense.
