Truck-specific route now open at Ysleta Port of Entry

Published:

A new route constructed specifically for truck traffic has opened up in El Paso this week.

The alternate route opened to traffic on Monday, March 1st in El Paso, Texas, reported KFox14 News.

The roadway, which took two years and $13.9 million to complete, spans between Winn Road and Pan American Drive, allowing drivers their own route to the Ysleta Port of Entry into Mexico.

Officials hope the new route will alleviate congestion at the Ysleta Port of Entry and will prevent drivers from parking alongside Loop 375 while waiting to cross.

In addition to the new roadway, the project added raised medians, better lighting, curbs and gutters, and even resurfaced the existing pavement.
