Trucker accidentally shot as would-be-hero uses gun to break glass on wrecked, flaming rig

Published:

A truck driver was accidentally shot during a rescue attempt that employed a gun as a battering ram in Louisiana on Thursday morning.

The incident happened on February 4th just after 5 a.m. in Shreveport, Louisisina.

According to WKRG News, two semi trucks wrecked on the Highway 80 exit ramp from Interstate 20 west, trapping one of the drivers and setting their rig on fire.

Another person then attempted to rescue the trapped driver using a gun to break the window glass. During the rescue attempt, the gun fired, shooting the trapped driver in the leg.

Luckily, the driver was still freed from the rig and was soon transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police report that other vehicles were damaged in the incident and approximately 100 gallons of diesel fuel were spilled in the crash.

It is not clear whether the would-be-hero was another truck driver or a passing motorist.
