Trucker charged with murder in I-81 road rage shooting targeting a fellow truck driver

A truck driver is facing homicide charges in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred on I-81 in West Virginia on Tuesday morning.

The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Department has confirmed that 66 year old Georgia-based truck driver Harold Rue was charged with one count of murder.

The charge was issued in connection with a deadly shooting that occurred along northbound I-81 on Tuesday.

“The shooting is believed to have occurred after a road rage incident between Rue and another trucker. The shooting occurred at the 23 mile marker northbound after both truckers pull off onto the shoulder of the interstate. Rue fled the scene after shooting the other trucker and traveled northbound on Interstate 81,” the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Department said in a press release.

Police shared vehicle information with authorities in Maryland and Pennsylvania.

Rue was taken into custody without incident by Pennsylvania State Police in Carlisle.

Rue is currently being held in Pennsylvania pending extradition to West Virginia. Police say that Rue could face additional charges when he is returned to West Virginia.

The victim has been identified as 29 year old Reynaldo Gonzalez Mediavilla from Florida.
