Trucker crashes into home after swerving to miss raccoon

Published:

A truck driver crashed into a Massachusetts home on Tuesday morning after swerving to miss a raccoon in the road.

The accident happened on November 9th in Lynn, Massachusetts.

According to Mass Live, the semi truck was traveling along Western Avenue when a raccoon ran to cross the road. The truck driver swerved to avoid the raccoon, causing him to lose control. The truck then crashed into multiple cars and a utility pole before eventually crashing into the house.

Thankfully, no serious injuries were sustained in the incident, and the home’s residents were even able to get their cat out safely. The house has been deemed uninhabitable as a result of the crash.

“It was pretty scary. It sounded like someone was trying to land a plane on Western Ave. and the entire house was shaking – just crazy noises,” said Jessica Demars, who lives upstairs. “The power went out and we just grabbed all the kids, made sure everyone was OK and we got out.”

“When I opened the front door and there was no porch there, I just tried to yell for him [the truck driver] to make sure he was OK. He seemed with it, he just couldn’t hear me,” Demars said. “I’m just so thankful that we are all OK. It could have been a lot worse because that’s right where my bedroom is.”
