Trucker ‘dances for peace’ at Ohio inauguration protest

A popular figure in the trucking industry showed up to dance for peace and positivity at the Ohio Statehouse inauguration protest.

It was easy to spot the Cincinnati trucker John Drury, also known as “The Dancing Trucker” at the protest at the Ohio Statehouse on Sunday, as he showed off his moves through the crowd. Drury was sporting his headphones, bright orange and yellow shoes with pink socks, and a “Dancing for Peace” t-shirt.

“I’m a truck driver full time and just wanted to do my part,” said Drury, to NBC4 news station. “I know there are hundreds of people up there, kind of standing for the same thing, and it’s just me, you know, kind of doing the opposite, wanting peace.”

This isn’t the first time the “Dancing Trucker” has made an appearance at an event in hopes to bring a little positivity to others.

Drury has danced since he was in high school but got back into dance in 2011 when he discovered dance fitness. He credits his 100lb weight loss to dancing and now uses it as a way to “inspire, motivate and bring joy, happiness and smiles.” to others.
