Trucker detained for questioning after woman claims she was kidnapped

Published:

A trucker has been detained for questioning after authorities received a strange text-to-911 message from a woman claiming she had been kidnapped.

The woman first contacted 911 on Tuesday, February 16th in northern Utah.

According to KUTV, Dispatchers in Layton texted back and forth with the woman while other dispatchers used tracking technology to find her location along Interstate 15 in Box Elder County.

An officer was then able to catch up to the white semi truck and pulled it over near 1100 South Main Street in Brigham City around 10 a.m.

The trucker has since been detained by the state bureau of investigation for questioning but has not yet been arrested or charged with any crimes as officials investigate the woman’s claims of being held against her will.
