Trucker found shot to death in parking lot identified as 72 year old Alabama man

Police have released new information in the shooting death of a log truck driver in Alabama yesterday.

The shooting occurred around 5 a.m. on Thursday in a parking lot in Jackson, Alabama.

Jackson Police have confirmed that 72 year old Thearthor Dixon was with a logging crew and had stopped in the lot when multiple rounds were fired into his vehicle.

Dixon was struck by several bullets and passed away at the scene near his truck.

Dixon’s body was found by a worker at a nearby gravel pit, who called 911.

Police believe that the shooting may have been part of an attempted robbery.

Jackson Police Chief Jerry Taylor told local news outlet WKRG that “it appears that he was targeted.”

No arrests have been made at this time.

The investigation into the fatal shooting is ongoing.
