Trucker in critical condition after semi tumbles off slick bridge

Published:

A truck driver is in the hospital after tumbling off a bridge in Dallas on Tuesday morning.

The accident happened on December 14th at around 12:30 a.m. in Dallas, Texas.

According to Fox 4 News, the semi truck was heading westbound on the Woodall Rodgers bridge just before the Interstate 35 exit when it lost control on the wet road and went over the side of the bridge, where it landed on the DART rail lines about 40 feet below.

The truck then caught fire with the truck driver trapped inside. Firefighters worked to extinguish the flames and rescue the driver, who was trapped inside for nearly an hour. The truck driver was then rushed to a nearby hospital with critical injuries, including burns.

The crash affected the Orange and Green DART rail lines and blocked one train heading to Carrollton. It is not clear if there were passengers on that train at the time of the wreck.

No further information on the truck driver’s condition has been released.
