Trucker says “Allah instructed him” to cause crash, flee police

A truck driver has been arrested on multiple charges after fleeing the scene of a crash and leading police on a chase, all because he believes that “allah instructed him to.”

The incident ocurred on the evening of April 9th. The chase began in Hope, Arkansas and ended in Hopkins County.

According to KSST Radio News, police began pursuing 31-year-old Mohammedali Ahmedin after he fled the scene of a crash and headed west on Interstate 30.

Officers from multiple counties and at least two states then pursued Ahmedin in what has been described as a “slow pursuit” from behind while other officers traveled ahead to lay down stop sticks. While the stop sticks did do damage to many of the tractor trailer’s tires, Ahmedin did not stop, doing damage to the pavement with his bare wheels as he continued to flee down the highway.

Ahmedin then began driving “very aggressively” towards other vehicles on the road and even struck a patrol car before he eventually crashed into a median near the 113 mile marker on I-30 west. Officers then promptly arrested him and took him into custody.

Once in custody, Ahmedin alleged told officers that “Allah instructed him to complete the criminal acts.” He is now being held in the Hopkins County Jail for evading arrest or detention with a vehicle and one aggravated assault charge.
