Trucker says he was robbed at knifepoint at North Carolina truck stop

Published:

North Carolina police are asking the public for information after a truck driver was allegedly robbed at a truck stop last week.

The robbery reportedly occurred on Thursday, January 14 at a Love’s truck stop location in Rowan County, North Carolina, WBTV reports.

The Texas-based truck driver later told police that he had pulled into the truck stop on Thursday night for a shower and to sleep. He said that as he walked back to his truck, a man grabbed him from behind and put a knife to his throat.

The suspect reportedly demanded the driver’s wallet. When the driver complied, the suspect took $300 in cash from the wallet, then threw the wallet on the ground.

The truck driver said that the man ran off with the cash and left the truck stop in the passenger seat of a white Chrysler C-300 with at least two other people inside.

The truck driver described the suspect as a black man in a black hoodie and jeans.

The Rowan Sheriff’s Office says that they were able to corroborate much of the truck driver’s account through surveillance video from the truck stop.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call the Rowan Sheriff’s Office at 704-216-8700 o
