Trucker shot in bowling alley parking lot, suspected shooter in custody

A Texas truck driver survived after he was shot during an altercation in a parking lot in California on Wednesday evening.

The shooting occurred around 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 9, in the parking lot of Surf Bowl bowling alley in Oceanside, California.

The 53 year old Texas-based truck driver was reportedly preparing to sleep in the lot in order to pick up a load in the morning when he was confronted by a man and a women.

The San Diego Union Tribune described the man and woman as homeless.

During the altercation, the truck driver was shot once in his abdomen. He was later airlifted to a hospital for surgery and is expected to survive.

Shortly before 10 a.m., police located the suspects and took them into custody.

Tosh Bennett, 27, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

The female suspect was arrested on a probation violation.

The incident remains under investigation by the Oceanside Police Department.
