Turner Turnpike shut down for trailer fire and fireworks explosions

The Oklahoma Turnpike Authority (OTA) has confirmed that portions of the Turner Turnpike near Chandler are closed due to a trailer fire with fireworks explosions.

Around 4:40 p.m. on Wednesday, November 3, the OTA announced that “a fireworks trailer is on fire on the Turner Turnpike at MM 177.5.”

Westbound traffic on the Turner Turnpike is being diverted at Stroud, authorities said.

In video shared by OTA, you can see traffic stopped in both directions as fireworks erupt from an overturned trailer.

Local news outlet Fox23 reports that no one was hurt.

This is a developing story.
