Two facing felony charges for entering rig that wasn’t theirs

Two men were arrested after a truck driver caught them climbing into her semi truck in Georgia earlier this week.

The incident happened on Monday, November 8th in Valdosta, Georgia at around 9:21 p.m.

According to Valdosta Daily Times, officers were called to a convenience store in the 2100 block of West Hill Avenue on reports of two men entering a vehicle that didn’t belong to them.

The woman told officers that she had parked her semi truck and was walking to the store when she witnessed two men open her truck door and climb into the cab. Another witness then told officers that she had witnessed the same two men take a grill from a nearby motel, so she followed them to the store.

Police were then able to locate the two men and take them into custody. They are now facing charges of entering an auto to commit theft, a felony, and theft by taking, a misdemeanor. The grill was also returned to its owner.

“We are grateful for the victim and witness in this case whose quick reactions helped lead to the arrest of these two offenders before they could leave the area,” VPD Captain Scottie Johns said in a statement.
