Two killed in unexplained head-on crash between semis

Published:

Two drivers were killed early on Tuesday morning after colliding head-on in Utah.

The accident happened at around 4:35 a.m. on December 14th near Moab, Utah.

According to KSL News, an International semi truck was heading north on State Route 191 when it drifted over the center line and into the southbound lanes. A Kenworth heading south was unable to avoid the wayward rig and the two trucks collided head-on in the southbound lane.

The driver of the International was killed in the crash. The driver of the Kenworth was treated on scene but was pronounced dead before they could be transported to a hospital. The driver’s identities have not been released.

Traffic was blocked in the area for several hours while officials worked to clear the wreckage and investigate the incident, but the area has since been reopened.

The exact reason for the accident has not been released, but officers do warn travelers to use caution in the area as gusty winds plague the area this week.
