Two Ohio weigh stations to be repurposed for truck parking

The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) announced plans to convert a pair of weigh stations to provide more truck parking opportunities in Ashland and Medina counties.

ODOT announced this month that they will reconstructing two currently unused weigh stations on I-71 south between SR 301 and U.S. 250 in Ashland County and I-76 east between SR 3 and SR 57 in Medina County for truck parking.

All work will be performed within existing right-of-way and traffic will be maintained during construction. Utilities will not need to be relocated and deep excavation is not required, according to ODOT.

Construction on the weigh station repurposing project is expected to begin in April 2024.
