UPDATE: Driver of ‘intensely’ flaming semi truck had consumed beers, THC, and didn’t know where he was going, police say

Published:

The driver of a semi truck that burned “intensely” on I-75 on Thursday has been identified and questioned, police say.

The initial accident happened on June 24th in Lexington, Kentucky. The driver has been identified as 36-year-old Brandon Decarlos Cooper.

According to ABC 36 News, upon officers’ arrival, Cooper had slurred speech, was “unable to advise” what state he was driving through and was “confused on where he was going.” Police also say he demonstrated “clues of impairment” on sobriety tests and directly admitted to eating two cannabis edible gummies, and pouring hemp oil into three beers, which he drank before he drove.

A blood test is still pending.
