VIDEO: Trucker puts a stop to murder suspect fleeing from California cops

A truck driver acted intentionally to put an end to a two-hour police pursuit in Southern California on Tuesday evening.

Around 5 p.m. on April 6, California law enforcement officers began pursuing 35 year old Michael Caleb Reed, who was accused of shooting and killing a man at a home in Oildale on March 28. He was also wanted by the US Marshals Task Force for carjacking and felony evasion in a separate incident.

Reed and a passenger inside a black pickup truck led officers on a two-hour pursuit through Riverside and Los Angeles Counties.

After hitting high speeds on 60 Freeway, the pickup driver reportedly attempted to lose police on surface streets in Pomona.

The pursuit ended thanks to truck driver Ahmed Shaaban, who said that he used his semi to block the pickup’s path.

“I was thinking just to block the intersection so he cannot pass. I did not think he would gun his truck the way he did. … He hit me pretty hard,” Shaaban told KTLA.

After striking the truck, the pickup’s airbags deployed. Reed eventually crawled out of the pickup and surrendered to police.
