WATCH: Trucker nearly moved to tears by $10,000 Secret Santa gift

A person in eastern Idaho is spreading holiday cheer this year by gifting a total of $1 million to deserving residents in need using only the name ‘Secret Santa.’

This week, “Secret Santa” wanted to give a gift to a trucker who actively supports the community of Rigby, Idaho through flag-raising ceremonies and other veteran and Memorial Day events – Tom.

Tom is known throughout the town of Rigby as the guy with the semi truck. He flies the flags during the National Anthem at most community events, and even organized several events following a tragic shooting at a local school earlier this year. Recently, Tom underwent surgery to have a pacemaker implanted and will have to miss work for the next month or so, so the “Secret Santa” decided to give him a monetary gift to help him along in his recovery as he misses work to heal.

The East Idaho News team paid Tom a surprise visit to present his gift of $10,000, and Tom was nearly brought to tears by the gesture.

“If my wife was here I’d be crying on her shoulder right now,” Tom said when he opened the gift.

“This is going to help me out so much.”
