Woman filmed hitching ride on semi trailer “might’ve done it a couple times before,” witnesses suggest

A woman was filmed hitching a ride on the back of a semi truck in Arkansas this week, and witnesses say she appeared as if she knew what she was doing.

The incident was filmed on Wednesday, January 13th in Texarkana, Arkansas.

According to CheyAnne Lynn, who filmed the incident, she was heading down State Line Avenue towards Interstate 30 when she noticed the woman’s risky mode of transportation. Lynn says the truck driver seemed totally unaware of the hitchhiker, or he would have stopped the truck.

“I really just wanted to follow her, but not too close, because I was scared she was gonna fall off,” she said to KARK News.

“My friend that was with me, he actually rolled the window down and he was yelling at her like, ‘Hey, what are you doing girl, you’re crazy!’ And, all she did was turn around and look at him. She didn’t say anything. She looked serious the whole time. So, I mean, I think she might’ve done it a couple of times before.”

The rig then stopped at an intersection for a red light and the woman hopped off, crossing the road and continuing on her way.

“If it would’ve been green, I don’t think she would’ve, you know, been able to hop off in time, that’s (what) kind of scared me the most, because, so much traffic right there. But, she did get off and got across the road,” Lyn said.

“At the time, I was laughing, but I was worried about her. So I really hope people don’t think it’s a good idea because it’s not.”

In response to the incident, Texarkana Police are warning people against this sort of risky behavior, and say that anyone caught riding tractor trailers could face charges of disorderly conduct and trespassing – both could land someone a $1,000 fine and up to a year in jail.

“It could’ve caused an accident. She could’ve lost her life, and could’ve caused a major accident where other people could’ve been harmed,” said Cpl. Kelly Pilgreen.
